our story
Secret Garden Roasters has been a personal passion and dream of mine for over ten years. I started my journey towards setting up my own coffee roastery in 2009, when I worked at an independent coffee merchants in Oxford's Covered Market. During my three years there I learnt about the coffee trade, the different beans and roasts, and started my journey on understanding how to get that perfect cup of coffee. Over the subsequent years, I continued to build my expertise by working as a barista in a cafe (where I also trained adults with special needs), managing a community cafe, and training at local coffee roasteries. All the while I dreamt of opening my own roastery, to bring sustainable craft coffee to customers who were looking for the perfect cup of jo that was good for the planet, for farmers and the tastebuds.
I spent two years researching suppliers and farmers, and tasting coffees from all over the world to find the perfect bean that was both ethical and sustainable and, most importantly, tasted great. In 2017, my dream started to become a reality when I built an eco-friendly roasting cabin. I perfected the roasting process and launched Secret Garden Coffee Roasters in 2020 right in the heart of Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
As an artisan coffee roaster, I believe that everyone should be able to find exceptional coffee that comes from a trusted source. I’ve carefully selected each coffee for its full and rich taste, and I roast coffee in small batches to maximise the flavour. All coffee is packaged in CO2 neutral packaging from Dutch Coffee Pack who work with local communities to contribute to sustainable development.
If you decide to order coffee from Secret Garden Roasters you can be confident that, from our roasting process to our farmers to our packaging, you're making a sustainable and ethical choice.
I hope to hear from you soon!
